Get that traffic

While many people now use ChatGPT to answer questions, Google continues to dominate the search engine market. That means securing a high rank on Google can drive significant organic traffic to your site without costing you a dime. Sounds simple, right? Well, with a constant influx of content creators vying for top search rankings, the competition can be fierce.

To climb the ranks, you need to identify the right keywords to target. In a crowded market, you may have to dig deeper and find low-difficulty keywords to improve your chances of making it to Google's first page.

Take our experience with Money Minx, for example. We faced an uphill battle in the personal finance and investing niche - it was like writing for a sea of crickets for a whileā€¦.

By focusing on low-difficulty keywords, we gradually found a sweet spot where we could consistently land on Google's first page for specific terms that resonated with our target audience. Admittedly, it took a lot of time, effort, and high subscription fees to analyze data in Ahrefs (keyword research rabbit hole is a thing), but the results are worth it.

Letā€™s make the whole SEO game easier and quicker with ChatGPT.

When youā€™re starting your SEO keyword research, try starting with this simple prompt:

Provide a list of 10 keywords I could rank for SEO for [product name].

[Product name] = description of the product with any relevant context

Here it is in action:

Provide a list of 10 keywords that I could rank for SEO for Money Minx, using 1-2 words each.

Money Minx is a diversified investment dashboard and net worth tracker that enables retail investors to aggregate all their investment data into one place, including stocks, bonds, shares, real estate, alternatives, and more, with special attention to crowdfunding platforms like Lexshares, FundRise, and PeerStreet.

Here are the results:

  • Portfolio dashboard

  • Net worth tracking

  • Investment aggregation

  • Diversified investments

  • Retail investor tools

  • Crowdfunding tracker

  • Lexshares integration

  • FundRise monitoring

  • PeerStreet analysis

  • Asset management

Thatā€™s a decent list to start with. Then, I can head back over to Ahrefs with a solid starting point and evaluate these words for their difficulty level and choose what I want to write about.

Get article topics

Letā€™s take it further and ask Chat GPT for article topics.

Follow-up prompt:

Generate 10 articles I could use to rank for those keywords.

Here are the results.

  9. Unlocking PeerStreet Insights: How Money Minx Helps You Make Informed Real Estate Debt Decisions

  10. Effortless Asset Management: Leveraging Cutting-Edge Tools to Optimize Your Investment Strategy

Not bad! I used to spend hours developing topic ideas and doing keyword research. With ChatGPT, this took about 5 minutes.

šŸ‘‰ Remember: Chat GPT's training data goes up until 2021, and we all know how quickly trends can change. So, it's wise to carefully review the information provided and determine what's most applicable to your current context. That said, you should now have a solid starting point for your SEO keywords.

The long-tail keyword approach

Earlier, I mentioned that using long-tail, low-difficulty keywords was a smart strategy for Money Minx. So, letā€™s use Chat GPT to generate more niche keywords that would help the long-tail approach.

Use a prompt like this:

What are the [x] most popular sub-topics related To [niche]?

Hereā€™s the live example:

What are the 3 most popular sub-topics related to personal investing?

Results:

The three most popular sub-topics related to personal investing are:

  1. Retirement planning: This sub-topic focuses on strategies for building a financial nest egg to ensure a comfortable lifestyle during retirement. It often covers various investment options, such as 401(k) plans, IRAs, and annuities, along with tips on maximizing returns and minimizing risk.

  1. Stock market investing: This area delves into the world of equities, teaching investors how to research, analyze, and select individual stocks or exchange-traded funds (ETFs). It also discusses strategies like dividend investing, growth investing, and value investing, as well as techniques for portfolio diversification and risk management.

  1. Real estate investing: This sub-topic explores the various ways individuals can invest in real estate, including buying rental properties, house flipping, and investing through real estate investment trusts (REITs). It offers insights into property selection, financing, and management, along with tips for maximizing returns and minimizing risk.

Go deeper with sub-topics of sub-topicsā€¦

Weā€™re going to keep ā€œdrilling downā€ by asking for subtopics for a subtopic. For this exercise, I will choose a subtopic from the Chat GPT results that the Money Minx audience will be most interested in based on my knowledge of our customers.

Here we go.

What are the 3 most popular sub-topics related to real estate investing?

Results:

  1. Rental properties: This sub-topic focuses on acquiring and managing residential or commercial properties to generate rental income. Investors learn about strategies for identifying profitable properties, securing financing, selecting tenants, and handling property management tasks such as maintenance and rent collection.

  1. House flipping: This area involves purchasing properties at a low cost, renovating or improving them, and then selling them for a profit in a relatively short time frame. Investors need to understand market trends, property valuation, budgeting for renovations, and effective marketing strategies to succeed in house flipping.

  1. Real estate investment trusts (REITs): This sub-topic explores investing in real estate through publicly traded companies that own, manage, and finance income-producing properties. REITs provide an accessible way for individuals to invest in a diversified real estate portfolio without directly owning or managing properties. Investors learn about the different types of REITs, their tax implications, and how to analyze their performance for potential inclusion in their investment portfolios.

Go even deeper for the niche keywords

These are all great sub-topics. I know my audience is interested in REITS because they use our software to track them. So Iā€™ll choose this topic to go deeper.

List the top 3 most popular keywords for real estate investment trusts (REITs).

Results:

  1. REIT investing

  2. Types of REITs

  2. How to invest in REITs for beginners

  5. Diversifying your portfolio with REITs

Now I have something actionable I can work with, so Iā€™ll try to expand on it even more.
