Unlock the secret to optimizing your AI tools: the Business Bit! Learn how to create a concise reference for your business to get better, more relevant AI responses.
I don't always ask AI for help…
But when I do, I forget half the details about my business and end up with off-target suggestions. ❌
👆 That’s not good! Let’s change that.
If you’ve been reading GPT Hacks for a while, you already know that context is key when using AI tools like ChatGPT or Bard. If you are one of the 756 new subscribers that just joined, welcome! You might want to take a quick peek at our article on context once you are done with today’s article.
Today, I am going to:
🚀 Introduce you to what I call a Business Bit
✍️ Help you put your own Business Bit together
🔍 Explain how to use your Business Bit with a live example
What is a Business Bit? 🚀
A Business Bit is a concise paragraph of text you should have for your business that you will use when working with an AI like ChatGPT, Bard, and others. Think of it, as your go-to reference to provide context to the AI, which will make the AI give you better responses that are relevant to your business.
This Business Bit should be saved in your favorite note-taking app (Apple Notes, Evernote, Notion, Google Docs, etc) and be easy for you to reach and reuse when needed.
I wouldn’t be surprised if our favorite AI tools will soon have a way to save this bit directly in the tool, but for now, let’s keep it in an easy-to-reach place.
Writing a Business Bit ✍️
To create your Business Bit, start by answering each of these questions in a list. Don’t worry about formatting just yet. We will ask an AI to help with that:
What is your business?
Who is your audience?
What service, product, etc., do you offer?
What problem are you solving?
What are your goals?
Anything else you find relevant that should be taken into consideration?
Once you have your list of answers ready, use the prompt below to get a concise paragraph and voila! You now have your Business Bit.
Here’s a quick example of this for GPT Hacks:

Now the output received from ChatGPT:
How to use your Business Bit? 🔍
The next time you ask ChatGPT or Bard to handle a task for you, simply include your business bit as part of your first prompt in the conversation. This will save you time and improve the relevancy of results.
Let’s take a look at an example to see what sorts of responses we get when using a Business Bit versus when we don’t:
Let's say you need a catchy headline for an upcoming article about incorporating AI into daily business operations.
Prompt - without using a business bit
Response - without using a business bit
Prompt - with a business bit
Response - with a business bit
This is a very simple example asking a generic question but as you can see without the Business Bit, the headline is very broad and applies to personal lives.
Meanwhile, when I included the Business Bit, the response is more relevant to what we do, is focused on business, is more targeted and relevant, and is tailored to our audience and objectives.
✨ ProTip: as the business evolves, don’t forget to revisit your Business Bit and update it as well to reflect the changes. Your Business Bit is not a static document but a dynamic summary that should grow with you and your business.
