AI in Marketing: ChatGPT for Brochure Crafting 🚀

ChatGPT can create marketing brochures that convert.

Shine bright like a... brochure, says Rihanna

It used to be that a brochure was a physical paper, usually a trifold, that would give information about a product. But today, a brochure can be physical or digital and can take multiple shapes or forms.

Today we are going to walk through how to use AI, like ChatGPT or Bard to help you create a brochure for your company, product, or event.

Our example use case: “You are a product manager for a biotech company, your company has a glucose monitoring app, and you’re launching a new meal planning service that you want to create a brochure for in the app.“

Let’s start creating!

🔮 Magic prompts are a myth

First things first, let's bust a myth!

Those magic one-liner prompts that you see creating awesome results on social media are totally useless. They're good for creating buzz, but when it comes to crafting a brochure that really does the job, it will take a bit more nuance.

Instead, what works is a well-considered multi-prompt strategy. Think of it as building a brochure brick by brick, or rather, section by section.

Here's the masterplan for creating a top-notch brochure:

  1. 🗂️ Pick your brochure style.

  2. 📝 Plan your content.

  3. 🤖 Work section-by-section with ChatGPT.

  4. 💡 Brainstorm ideas with ChatGPT.

  5. ❓Ask ChatGPT to fill in the gaps.

  6. 🧩 Assemble your masterpiece.

  7. 🚀 Review, polish, and ship It!

By following this strategy, you'll be able to create a polished, persuasive, and effective brochure using AI. Now, let's get started!

🗂️ Pick your brochure style

There are multiple types of brochures you can create. Before jumping into ChatGPT, figure out what type of brochure you are creating since you will need this information for ChatGPT.

Here are the types that ChatGPT would understand:

  1. Physical Brochures: These are your classic printed brochures - think bi-fold or tri-fold designs you'd hand out at a trade show.

  2. Digital Brochures (PDF/Flipbooks): Basically, the online version of your traditional brochures, perfect for emails or website downloads.

  3. Email Newsletters: Kind of like a brochure but in an email format, loaded with info and promotional goodies.

  4. Web Pages: Think of this as your mega digital brochure, packed with all the juicy details about your business.

  5. App Screens: This is where brochures go interactive and digital, sharing your info through a user-friendly app.

  6. Social Media Posts: Your Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn can turn into a digital brochure with the right content.

  7. Video Brochures: While ChatGPT can't make videos (yet!), it can surely help script them.

  8. Interactive Presentations: The digital brochure with a twist, blending text, images, videos, and interactive stuff.

For our use case, we are creating an App Screen brochure.

📝 Plan your content

We have our use case and our brochure type. Now, we need to figure out what sections to include in the brochure. We can ask ChatGPT for help, but first try to gather as much information as possible from this list. The more you have upfront, the better the outcome from ChatGPT. I’ll fill this out for our example use case:

  1. Company name: GlucoTracker

  2. Product name: Meals Done Right

  3. Product features and selling point: Service that ships ready-to-heat and eat meals that fit your glucose goals

  4. Type of brochure: App screen

  5. Target audience: Users of our app GlucoTracker that need help improving their diets to reach their glucose goals

  6. Call to action: Sign up for a trial and get a free meal

Armed with that info, we can use ChatGPT for our first prompt:

What sections should be included in my in-app screen brochure? Here is more detail about it:

Company name: GlucoTracker
Product name: Meals Done Right
Product features and selling point: service that ships ready-to-heat and eat meals that fit your glucose goals.
Type of brochure: App screen
Target audience: users of our app GlucoTracker that need help improving their diets to reach their glucose goals
Call to action: sign up for a trial and get a free meal

Here are the sections, ChatGPT came up with:

  1. Welcome/Introduction: Start by introducing the new service. Make it clear that this is an exciting new feature of GlucoTracker.

  2. Problem Statement: Briefly outline the problem many users face - maintaining a diet that helps them reach their glucose goals.

  3. Solution Overview: Introduce "Meals Done Right" as the solution to this problem. Make sure to explain the service in a concise, easy-to-understand way.

  4. Key Features: Highlight the selling point of your service. You can present this in a bulleted list or a short paragraph. Explain how the ready-to-heat meals are tailored to fit the glucose goals of the user.

  5. Benefits: Explain the benefits of using your service. For instance, you could highlight convenience, health benefits, and the potential for improved glucose management.

  6. Testimonials/Reviews: If available, include positive reviews or testimonials from early users of the service. This can build trust and credibility.

  7. Call to Action (CTA): Prompt users to sign up for a trial with a free meal offer. Make sure this CTA is visually prominent and persuasive.

  8. Support/Contact: Provide information or a link for users to learn more or get help if they have questions or need assistance.

Take a look at the list and see if anything is missing or anything that you want to exclude.

For our use case, I am going to exclude reviews since it’s a new product, I am also going to skip support contact since the app has a contact section already. I noticed that pricing and mention of a free meal are missing. So I’ll make sure that’s added.

🤖 Work section-by-section with ChatGPT

You may already know the answer to the brochure sections or you may need help with filling in the gaps. Here are the two best prompts to use in this step to help you create your brochure.

💡 Brainstorm ideas with ChatGPT

For each section, you can ask ChatGPT for help filling in the gaps. For example, you can ask it for ideas for problem statements:

Prompt Template:
What are typical problems faced by [target audience] that need help with [what your product does]?

Example:
What are typical problems faced by health-conscious people tracking ketosis and people with diabetes that need help with meal planning?

❓ Ask ChatGPT to fill in the gaps

You can start with the information you have and ask ChatGPT if you are missing anything. See what happens when I give it a very broad problem statement that doesn’t really nail the issue.

Prompt Template:
Is this a good problem statement for [explain your business/product]: [problem statement]

Example:
Is this a good problem statement for my meal planning service inside of my glucose tracking app: people don't know how to cook

ChatGPT responded that my problem statement is too broad, and instead, I could use something like:

Maintaining a balanced diet that aligns with specific glucose goals can be challenging, especially when you're busy or unfamiliar with what meals fit within these guidelines.

Much better, right? Do this for each of the sections until you feel like you have enough to go on for each section. After completing each section, using one of the two prompts above, I ended with this list of information:

  1. Intro: Introducing Meals Done Right, our latest service here at GlucoTracker!
