🤖 ChatGPT Code Interpreter is a huge deal

A data scientist, designer, developer, analyst and more - all in one tool!

ChatGPT Code Interpreter

ChatGPT Code Interpreter is a new plugin for ChatGPT that is currently only available to a small closed alpha test group. I was lucky enough to get an invite to give it a spin and all I can say is wow! At the end of the article, I’ll share the steps for you to get access to this plugin too!

This tool is yet another game-changing step by OpenAI (makers of ChatGPT).

Don’t get intimidated by the name. No, you don’t have to be a developer or write code to use it. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

ChatGPT Code Interpreter gives ChatGPT three new key features:

  1. You can now upload files to ChatGPT.

  2. ChatGPT can now create files for you to download.

  3. ChatGPT can write code and execute it on your behalf to create things (files, images, CSV, GIFs, and more) for you or answer questions about files you upload to it.

Today I will show you five ways you can use ChatGPT Code Interpreter to demonstrate why this is such a powerful tool for any founder to use.

Here are the examples I’ll cover:

  • 🌟 Animate an image

  • 📄 Summarize key points in a contract

  • 🔗 Create a fun QR code for your next live event

  • 💡 Get business ideas from a CSV file

  • 📊 Easily visualize your data

Let’s go! 🚀

1. Animate an image 🌟

Simple product image

Let’s say you own an e-commerce site and are selling these birthday Air Jordan’s or writing a blog article (or social media post) about them. Studies have repeatedly shown that animated images are much more visually appealing. They grab attention and convert better than still images.

But what if you don’t have a video production team? Upload it to ChatGPT Code Interpreter and use this simple prompt to animate it:

Slowly zoom in and out in a very dramatic way then loop it into a gif.

Two seconds later, an animated version of the image is ready to go.

Way more interactive, right? This is just a simple example of how you can use ChatGPT Code Interpreter to create more engaging images for your products.

2. Summarize key points in a contract 📄

Summarize a contract with Code Interpreter

If you are running a startup, a business, or just trying to sign your kids up for summer camp, chances are you have to read, review and sign contracts. Getting a lawyer to review these contracts is a very time-consuming and expensive process.

Usually, finalizing a contract will take multiple rounds of red lines and reviews which will rack up billable hours for your attorney. Instead, use ChatGPT Code Interpreter to take care of the early rounds of the review and then only get your attorneys involved for that last seal of approval (don’t skip the last step).

To start, upload your contract to ChatGPT Code Interpreter and ask it to summarize the key points of the agreement with this prompt:

Can you summarize the relevant points of this agreement?

This will get ChatGPT to read the document, give you a summary and more importantly, it will now be ready to answer any of your questions. Next, you can follow up with more questions. Here are some examples:

  1. Does the contract auto-renew?

  2. Is there an early termination clause?

  3. Anything worrisome that I should look into?

  4. What are the payment terms?

  5. Are there any clauses about IP ownership?

✨ Pro Tip: Not sure what to ask or look for? Ask ChatGPT for common questions to ask for similar contracts to get a list of questions you can start with.

3. Create a fun QR code for your next live event 🔗

Let’s say you are heading to an in-person event or have a booth on display somewhere.

To give people that pass by an easy way to look up your website, give ChatGPT Code Interpreter your logo and ask it to create a QR code with your logo in the middle.

You can then print the QR code, set it on the table, add it to your business cards, or share it on social.

Go ahead, give the below a try, and while you are at it, share it on social!

Try me.

For this one, all you have to do is load your image and then use this prompt:

Please create a QR code with the uploaded logo in the middle of the QR code. The code should be a link to https://www.gpthacks.com/subscribe

4. Get business ideas from a CSV file 💡

Solar industry opportunities from a 2 min Code Interpreter demo

ChatGPT Code Interpreter is a literal data scientist ready to help you. Imagine you are at a solar startup looking for which market to break into next and how.

You can go to Data.gov and pull the U.S. Electric Utility Companies and Rates: Look-up by Zipcode (2020) report. This shows you how much people are spending on their electricity.

Then load the file into ChatGPT Code Interpreter. After loading the file, you can ask it to analyze the data, visualize it and even look for business opportunities.

Prompts to use:

Can you group the data into cohorts that would be attractive to a business looking to grow in the [your industry] industry?

Once you get the data, you can follow up with a prompt to get business ideas:

For each cohort: please write a strategy for a company looking to grow its business in that segment.

For my solar data example, here are the business ideas I got:

  1. High Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Rates: These areas could be the most lucrative as high utility rates make solar an attractive proposition for all customer types. The strategy here could be to focus on aggressive marketing highlighting potential savings from switching to solar. Offering financing options could also help overcome any upfront cost barriers.

  2. High Residential, Medium/Low Commercial and Industrial Rates: In these areas, the residential sector might be the most ripe for solar adoption due to high utility rates. The strategy could be to focus marketing efforts on homeowners, possibly partnering with local real estate agents or home improvement stores.

  3. Medium/High Commercial and Industrial, Low Residential Rates: Here, focusing on commercial and industrial customers might be more fruitful. The strategy could be to highlight not just cost savings, but also corporate sustainability goals which solar can help achieve. Offering power purchase agreements or solar leases might be an effective approach.

  4. Low Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Rates: These areas might be the toughest to break into due to low utility rates. However, if there are favorable local incentives for solar, it might still be a viable market. The strategy here could be to emphasize the environmental benefits of solar, potential increases in property value, and protection against future rate hikes.

5. Easily visualize your data 📊

ChatGPT Code Interpreter Data Visualization

Another handy application of this plugin is the ability to visualize data from a data file quickly. For example, I imported a file with the location of users and asked a straightforward question:

Can you help visualize my data and let me know if you see anything interesting?

A few seconds later, I got the image above and the one below. ChatGPT also told me what my top cities were and asked if there were any marketing efforts I wanted to explore for each of those cities.

All of this with using a very simple file of just user locations. With a more complete file and data, this tool can be extremely valuable in helping you with your business. We will continue to explore this further in future articles.

Just getting started

This is just the beginning for ChatGPT Code Interpreter, which currently does not have access to web browsing. As this product evolves and gets more powerful, it will continue to get better and better and be able to do much more.

We’ll keep you up to date on its evolution. But for now, here are some additional ideas of what you can do with Code Interpreter:

  • Quickly create relevant charts and graphs from the data you upload

  • Merge data between two files

  • Clean data in a file (e.g. remove duplicates)

  • Convert a file into another format (e.g. convert an XML to a JSON)

  • Debug your code

  • … and so much more

We would love to hear about how you are using ChatGPT Code Interpreter. So reply to this email and let us know.

How to get access to ChatGPT Code Interpreter 🙌

You have to be a ChatGPT Plus subscriber, which costs $20/month. This is well worth the spend. Even if you don’t get access to ChatGPT Plugins (including Code Interpreter) right away, you’ll immediately have access to GTP4 instead of GPT3.5, a much more powerful version of ChatGPT.

Once you are a ChatGPT Plus member, join the Plugins Waitlist to request access. This will grant you access to the entire ChatGPT Plugins library, which will include ChatGPT Code Interpreter.
